Because that's what being depressed means: you're popping prescription pills to make you happier. You're altering your depressed self to make you feel happiness once in a while, to fight the urge of suicide.

The specialist tells you, "Maybe you're depressed." Maybe I am, but I never know for sure. Everybody has their good and bad days – so do I. Why does having 'bad days' more often than 'good days' constitute depression? Of course, that's why these doctors spent years on end studying in post-secondary institutions: to answer the question 'why.'
